Picture of the Year 2018 Runners-Up

The voting has closed and we now know the result of our 2018 Picture of the Year vote. Before we announce the winner we’d like to thank all of the photographers who took part in our Picture of the Day feature in 2018, and again congratulate the eleven photographers who made it through to our Picture of the Year final. We’ll reveal the winner shortly, but first here’s a special mention to the photographers whose pictures took second and third place…

2nd Place

Bride's veil blowing away in wind as bride and groom pose for picture - Picture by James Andrew Photography

James Andrew Photography took second place with this fab picture from Caroline and Andy’s wedding at Norton Priory in Cheshire. It wasn’t until later in the day that James even realised he’d captured this one-off moment…

“I asked the couple to stand by the ruins, but as I raised the camera to my eye a massive gust of wind blew over. I could see Caroline’s veil was starting to lift off so I just kept my finger on the shutter release and waited to see what happened… her veil took off like a kite and headed off into he distance.

3rd Place

Bridesmaid wiping away tear - Picture by Steve Grogan Photography

Third place went to Steve Grogan Photography for this emotional shot from Mel and Baz’s wedding at Billesley Manor. Steve told us how he particularly liked the light and range of emotions in this picture…

“I love the range of emotions; the laughter from the other guests contrasting with the tears. Plus the light in the ceremony room at Billesley Manor was just incredible. It was a wonderful day and one of my favourite weddings of 2017.”
