Picture of the Month – December 2018

And the winner is… First Light Photography!

We now have all our finalists for our 2018 Picture of the Year competition, after this beautiful picture by First Light Photography was voted The Wedding Community’s December 2018 Picture of the Month. Taken before Lynsey and Ewan’s wedding in Edinburgh, Ditte explained why capturing shots like this can be challenging for photographers…

Like a Vermeer Painting

“Lynsey and her bridesmaids were all getting ready in her old childhood bedroom. As a photographer this can cause a few challenges; four girls getting ready in one room means a lot of make-up, clothes, bags and other stuff strewn around the place.

“Thankfully the window provided a soft directional light, so I was able to exclude other elements of the room by having Lynsey sitting close to the window and exposing for the window light. I love the look this has created, almost like a Vermeer painting. I was lucky to catch a moment when the veil and light were framing her face.”
