Wedding Bouquets

Because a lot of the wedding preparations start in the morning and go well into the afternoon, the flowers will need to be delivered well before the ceremony. If it’s a warm day, you might find you and your bridesmaids with wilted, dropping flowers. But don’t worry; there are ways to avoid this as well. […]

A Pretty Blush and Mint Styled Wedding at Woodhill Hall

Happy bride leaning on groom in countryside

Oh my goodness, you are going to have total wedding envy when you see this fabulous wedding at Woohill Hall. Rachel and Daniel’s wedding looks so elegant and chic with the blush and mint details, beautiful flowers and cute wedding favours.

This wedding also has one of the prettiest wedding dresses we have ever seen! Rachel looks incredible in her tea length, lace detailed dress from House of Mooshki.

Get comfy and enjoy these beautiful pictures by Helen Russell Photography. We do spoil you with so many pretty ideas, don’t we?

“As Daniel and I are known to be ‘foodies’, this element of our wedding was very important to us. We didn’t want the traditional food that is often served at weddings, so the idea of a Greek meze really appealed to us. Woodhill Hall were very flexible and allowed us to modify the menu as much as we liked. We also loved the sharing element of the meze and felt it would be the perfect opportunity to bring people together on tables.

“The meze consisted of a selection of Greek dips, hummus and tzatziki, with pitta bread, olives with feta, filo parcels with ricotta and mint, stuffed peppers, slow roasted lamb with rosemary, chicken souvlaki, Greek style potatoes, Greek salad and halloumi and roasted vegetable skewers.

“My dance with my father was a very special part of the day. My dad and I are very close and this moment with him was something I will never forget. My dad is a talented Salsa-Jive dancer so I knew he would want to dance with me at the wedding. We spent a while trying to find the perfect song to dance to, but one day when I was visiting him around a year before the wedding he played ‘Eighteen Yellow Roses’ by Bobby Darin. It instantly reduced me to tears; the song was chosen.

“From that day onwards until the day of the wedding, my dad text me with a countdown with the days until the wedding – 353 yellow roses came today, 352 yellow roses came today – the texts came every day without fail. When we finally arrived at Woodhill Hall on the day before the wedding, 18 yellow roses were waiting for me in my room.

“I was a little nervous before the dance with Dad as, unlike my first dance with Daniel, our dance was completely unrehearsed. However, he did a brilliant job of making it look like we had been polishing our performance for a long time!

“I would wholeheartedly recommend Helen! She has the ability to capture precious moments that could be lost in the blink of an eye and portray them in the most beautiful and natural way. Our wedding photographs tell the perfect story of our wedding, and we will treasure them forever. We really can’t thank her enough.”

Paper Veil Competition Winner

Kyrie and Natalie Bespoke Couple Illustration from Paper Veil

In February we launched our competition to give away a Bespoke Couple Illustration from Paper Veil, a mounted, hand-drawn illustration of a lucky couple on high quality watercolour paper. Our winner was Natalie, who is planning a rustic barn wedding with her partner, Kyrie, which will take place at Doxford Barn in August 2017.

Laura from Paper Veil got in touch to share Natalie and Kyrie’s beautiful illustration with us, and she told us a little bit about how the illustration came together…

“Starting a new illustration is great for me because it’s a totally blank canvas ready for my interpretation of the couple to take place.

“After Natalie sent over a couple of photos of themselves and the flowers, clothing etc I got a feel for their style and started by drafting out the couple, using the shape and size of the flowers to determine how the wreath at the bottom would sit around them.

“Once the draft is approved then the inking and colouring is really where things come together. I picked out colours from the bouquet Natalie had chosen for the flowers underneath and blended them using brush pens to bring it all together.

“Finally, some hand-lettering for their names at the top finished off the design.”

Natalie and Kyrie were absolutely thrilled with their beautiful illustration, and our thanks go to Paper Veil for providing this fantastic prize. Bridal Gowns

Style, colour and ceremonial importance of the bridal gown worn by the bride during the wedding ceremony depends upon the culture and religion of the couple getting married. White is the preferred color of the bridal gown among the westerners. Creamy shades such as ivory, ecru and eggshell are also used in making bridal gowns. […]
