Different Ways to Use Lavender at Your Wedding

This post Different Ways to Use Lavender at Your Wedding first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog

Lavender represents beauty and femininity, and is considered to be the grown up pink. Using its pretty purple shades to add colour and detail you you wedding day is easy.

Shropshire Petals share just a few of their favourite ways to use lavender at your wedding…

Lavender Decorations

Lavender wedding decorations in basket

Whatever your wedding theme, bunches of lavender in vases, jars, pots or boxes can add a special touch to your venue decorations, as well as a beautiful scent. You could place containers filled with lavender on the steps leading up to your reception, make a lavender pathway down your ceremony aisle, or, if you are having a marquee reception, you could place large bunches in tall containers outside the entrance.

Lavender Bridal Bouquets

Lavender will add texture and a delicate scent to your bridal bouquet, which will be lovely as you walk down the aisle. For a chic and rustic look you could have a small posy bouquet, or you could mix lavender with fresh wild flowers for a country style.

Wheat and lavender bridal bouquet

Our favourite idea is to combine lavender and wheat for a pretty bouquet, and you could try adding some dried or fresh flower stems to suit your wedding theme.

Lavender Chair Decorations

Lavender tied to back of wedding chair

Tying lavender bunches, to your reception chairs will add a touch of natural charm, and lavender bunches give of a vibrant colour and scent. They will also look great when combined with wheat to break up the colour.

Lavender Wedding Table Settings

Lavender can add great little touches to your wedding tables. For a rustic place setting you could add a sprig or two on your guests’ plates, or attach it to napkin rings with the guest’s name tag. Scattering lavender grain on white tablecloths will add texture and a delicate smell.

Lavender Table Decorations

If you are using DIY touches in your wedding you could use string, raffia or ribbon to tie small sprigs of lavender around glass jars with candles inside to create an elegant table decoration. Lavender tied to larger candles will complement this look, and when lit will add romance. You could also sprinkle some confetti to your tables…

Lavender Confetti

Lavender grain

Lavender grain is a great alternative to confetti, and can also be added to your chosen petal confetti mix. This will look great in your wedding pictures and smell great too.

Special Offer

Shropshire Petals is currently offering 25 lavender bundles for just £50. The package consists of 25 country chic lavender bundles tied with raffia.

A Bohemian Elopement Styled Shoot in Spain

This post A Bohemian Elopement Styled Shoot in Spain first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog

Groom with arms around bohemian bride's shoulders on beach in Spain

These pictures by Rebecca Goddard of this intimate bohemian elopement styled shoot in Spain are incredible.

Imagine eloping to a deserted beach in Spain to say your ‘I dos’.

Imagine wearing an ethereal wedding dress with a beautiful floral crown, and feeling the sand between your toes.

Imagine the two of you enjoying a delicious picnic style meal, sat watching the sunset.

Imagine no more… this bohemian inspired shoot has it all, and it’s breathtaking. Lucy Bennett of The Boutique Wedding Co explains how the shoot came together…

“In June 2015 I came together with Reel Love Films and Rebecca Goddard Photography to create ‘Young Love Wanderlust’, a romantic and wild depiction of young love inspired by our love of weddings and never dying wanderlust to see the world.

“Beccy and Frances were keen to travel to Spain to create this shoot, and when they approached me they envisioned a wild elopement between two young bohemian lovers on a Spanish cliff top. I have settled on the wild and unknown south west coast of Spain, and was passionate to share my favourite cliff top beaches. Using the settings of surf spot El Palmar and the hill top town of Vejer de la Frontera, we created this beautiful wedding day story of two young lovers preparing to commit to endless love.

“Our wedding day begins with our young bride collecting her wild, romantic bouquet in the hill top village of Vejer de la Frontera. She contemplates love as she walks through the streets of the ancient Moorish town, whilst down at El Palmar our young groom is enjoying his second love, surfing. The young couple elope to a stunning cliff top, later dining on the beach as they watch the sun set.

“The two beautiful dresses worn by our bride both perfectly captured the bohemian look, with an informal feel perfect for a beach wedding. The first dress, Sara by Limor Rosen, is a timeless dress with beautiful shape and flow, hand-beaded lace and a nude stretch lining. On the beach our bride wore Diablo by Rembo Styling, a two-piece with camisole top and simple lace-edged skirt.

“We used a colour palette of marsala red, grey/blue and a soft pink, which subtly complemented the natural textures and colours of the landscape. We wanted the flowers to be wild and natural, with greens mixed with pops of colour.

“I wanted to create a unique table setting for the elopement dinner, using vintage chalk-painted pallets which were complemented with rich colours and flavours of Spain. Fruit was used to infuse the marsala red, and the table was styled with antique plates and books from my grandmother, dip dye napkins and blue/grey accessories.

The records of a walled-building in Warwick can be traced back to the Saxon fortification which Ethelfleda, daughter of Alfred the Great, used to defend against the invading Danes. Throughout the middle ages, under successive Earls of Warwick, the Castle was gradually rebuilt in stone.
