A Picnic Lunch Hen Party in South Carolina

This post A Picnic Lunch Hen Party in South Carolina first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog

I’m delighted to share our very first ‘Real Life Hen Party’ feature. And what a great hen party we’ve got to kick off the new feature – that of fashion blogger Jess, of Dressed by Jess.

Hen parties have evolved so much in recent years; from a small, intimate meal and drinks with friends, to full-on weekends away and styled events. I’m not saying you can’t go for a few drinks, but there are so many amazing things you can do for your hen party these days.

In the new feature we’ll be sharing some amazing hen parties and weekends of brides-to-be, to give you loads of inspiration for your own.

Jess’s Hen Weekend

Jess didn’t fancy a traditional night out on the town, and instead chose an amazing hen weekend in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. Her ideal getaway involved pampering, relaxing, and sunbathing with her friends, so that’s exactly what she did.

The location, under an oak tree, was truly stunning and the perfect place to have a beautiful laid-back picnic-style lunch. Gigi of Smells Like Peonies Events created the prettiest tablescape for the occasion, and the girls drank Champagne and enjoyed a magnificent oreo-filled cake.

Surprise Lunch

“Rather than checking into a hotel we decided to rent a big ol’ beach house for the weekend. It was steps away from the ocean and my sister and bridesmaids decked it out with flamingos and pineapples – the perfect beachy details. A dream getaway for me includes pampering, relaxing, and sunbathing.

“The girls worked so hard to make this weekend extra special for me, and for that reason I wanted to treat them to a surprise lunch alongside Live Oak Alley at Boone Hall. I reached out to Ava Moore Photography and Gigi of Smells Like Peonies Events to pull it off. With the help of amazing vendors, it turned out to be one epic lunch date with my girls!

“The afternoon couldn’t have been more perfect. A storm had just rolled in so there was practically no one left at the mansion. It was quiet, serene, and like a scene from a movie. We were surrounded by beautiful flowers and the most gorgeous tablescape I have ever seen (thanks to Gigi). After we popped the champagne we dived into the Oreo-filled cake and soaked up every moment under the oak trees. It was magical! The best part of this weekend was being surrounded by all of my girls.”

Jess’s Top Five Tips for Creating An Epic Hen Weekend

Collect the Money First

Designate one or two group organisers and make sure to collect all payments prior to your trip. Everyone should enjoy themselves from the moment they walk in the door and not have to worry about making payments during the special events. Which brings me to my next point…

Plan Ahead

When travelling to a new city make sure you do all your planning ahead of time. Utilise online tools that provide party ideas, venue recommendations and tools to simplify the planning process.

Have a Meal Catered In

Sometimes restaurants can be too loud and take away from the intimacy of the event.

Surprise and Delight!

In the case of a hen party, it’s always fun to surprise your guests with special treats. My sister prepared tote bags with beach towels, flamingo straws, can coolers, custom t-shirts, and delicious chocolate covered pretzels (even the boxes were customised!).

Make it Meaningful

Whether it’s sunrise yoga, a painting class, zip-lining, a wellness retreat, or just a simple slumber party, it’s important you tailor that your hen weekend completely to your interests.

As cheesy as this may sound, you should cherish quality time with your girlfriends. It’s not often you can rally everyone together for a destination celebration, so when you do, have fun with it and try to disconnect from social media so you’re present in the moment.

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select – The Perfect Gift for Your Groomsmen

This post Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select – The Perfect Gift for Your Groomsmen first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog

Oh Jack how I love thee! If you are looking for the perfect thank you gift for your best man and groomsmen I may have found just the thing! Thanks to Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select, what to gift your groomsmen is one less thing to worry about. Get into the wedding spirit (pardon the pun) and mark the occasion Jack’s way – with a personalised bottle of this one-of-a-kind flavour.

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select knows that your wedding day is as significant for the groom and his groomsmen as it is for the bride and her bridesmaid. Signature Single Barrel Select is the perfect spirit to share with friends, toasting to those once in a lifetime moments.

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select

“Just as one barrel rises above the rest, having met the single barrel standard – one man rises above the rest to stand beside you on your wedding day.”

Only One Out of 100 Barrels Becomes Single Barrel Select

Jack Daniel’s is perhaps one of the best known and most popular whiskeys in the world. If your best man and groomsmen are Jack Daniel’s lovers then they will really enjoy this Single Barrel Select; it’s very, very special!

Only one out of every 100 barrels is set aside to mature in the upper reaches of the Jack Daniel’s barrel houses, where dramatic temperature changes enhance both the colour and taste of the whiskey they house. Each barrel is hand-selected for its one-of-a-kind flavour, and every bottle of Single Barrel Select proudly carries its unique rick number, barrel number and bottling date.

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select On the Rocks

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select offers a distinctive, full-bodied taste with notes of vanilla, toasted oak and caramel. Harbouring less sweetness and more power than the original Old No.7, Single Barrel Select offers a much richer variation. With no two barrels producing the same whiskey, Jack Daniel’s really delivers a one-of-a-kind gift, perfect for the special people at your wedding.

Flavoursome with a Kick

I enjoy a sneaky JD and coke, so couldn’t wait to open this amazing Single Barrel Select. I have to say it didn’t disappoint! The bottle I tried was bottled on 8th March 2016 from barrel no. 16-5050.

Best served on the rocks or on its own, Single Barrel Select is really flavoursome and I found it to have much more of a kick than other varieties I have tried in the past. It’s quite heavy and rich (check out the whiskey connoisseur in me!).

Personalised Bottle

The bottle alone is something very special (I plan to keep mine in pride of place on the shelf). You can also have the bottle personalised with a message for the person you are gifting it to.

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select Gift Box

I suggested giving Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select to your best man and groomsmen, but it’s a perfect wedding thank you gift for the dads too. Actually, it would make a great gift for anyone you are buying thank you gifts for… after all, it’s not only men that drink Jack.

By the Barrel

A 70cl bottle of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select is £49.99. If you fancy serving this as a drink at your wedding you can also buy this by the barrel. Just contact Jack Daniel’s at singlebarrelstandard@whiskyshop.com and you’ll receive an experience curated solely for you, from start to finish.

Of course, this is not just for gifts – have yourself some Jack too!

You can buy Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select from the Jack Daniel’s website.

Beauty and the Beast Inspired Wedding Styling

This post Beauty and the Beast Inspired Wedding Styling first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog

Beauty and the Beast, the new Disney film, is so much more than just a movie. It’s a phenomenon, and the most incredible inspiration for wedding styling.

The fairytale love story of Beauty and the Beast is so captivating, and has become many people’s all-time favourite Disney film (it’s mine, is it yours too?). If you love it too, there are so many elements of the film and the design you can incorporate into your wedding. I’m not saying full-on Beauty and the Beast décor with items from the Disney Store and a yellow dress (unless of course this is your thing). Just subtle, fabulous details.

Bride holding bouquet in woodland

The creative team behind this Beauty and the Beast wedding shoot created woodland wedding styling using elements from the film to enhance the look. They brought the dark woodland setting to life with red roses, pewter décor and a beautiful white Ian Stuart ballgown wedding dress.

Even if you don’t fancy a Beauty and the Beast themed wedding, these styling ideas provide beautiful inspiration. I love the gold drip wedding cake topped with meringues (it looks so good!), and the red rose bridal crown is perfect for an autumn or winter wedding.

‘Be our guest’ and step this way to enjoy the glory of this Beauty and the Beast wedding styling…

Wonderful Love Story

“The inspiration behind this elegant woodland shoot was my favourite Disney film of all time, Beauty and the Beast”. With the film released in March, I felt sure that it would inspire many couples to incorporate elements of this wonderful love story into their wedding day.

“I therefore set about planning a shoot that would show couples ways to introduce small hints of the film in an achievable way, via florals, props and their choice of colour palette.”

This post New Confetti Wands from Shropshire Petals first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog

There is nothing better after you say “I do” than your friends and family showering you with beautiful natural petal confetti. But what about the children at your wedding? Not all confetti display options are child-friendly, and allowing them to take a handful from a pretty basket or giving them a confetti cone to hold will inevitably result in confetti on the floor before it’s time to throw. Shropshire Petals has launched the perfect solution – Confetti Wands.

Children Holding Confetti Wands from Shropshire Petals

Perfect for including your smallest guests in all the fun of the confetti throwing, Confetti Wands are just the right size for little hands to hold. Simply let the children hold them until it’s time to throw confetti, then take of the lid and let them flick out the beautiful natural petal confetti inside and watch it cascade gently over you.

Three Designs

Available in three gorgeous designs, heart, flower and star, Confetti Wands are perfect for girls and boys. Select the petals inside by pick and mixing from the wonderful array of colours and petal types on the Shropshire Petals website. Choose bold, bright colours, or match your confetti to your wedding colour scheme.

Confetti Wands from Shropshire Petals - Three Designs

Confetti Wands are available to buy in a single design individually or in packs of nine. They are also available in a multipack of three, which includes one of each design. Confetti Wands contain no compressed air, making them safe for all your guests to use.

Shop the new Confetti Wands at www.shropshirepetals.com. Confetti Wands are £3.50 each, £26.55 for a pack of nine, or £9.75 for a multipack of three. When flicked, confetti can reach approximately 1.5 metres.

About Shropshire Petals

Set in the stunning Shropshire countryside, Shropshire Petals grows and produces 100% biodegradable, eco-friendly natural petal confetti. No dyes are ever added as the natural drying process preserves the petal colours perfectly. A Romantic Post-Wedding Shoot in Woodland with Bluebells

This post A Romantic Post-Wedding Shoot in Woodland with Bluebells first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog

Emilie and Darren married a year ago, but never really had their dream wedding pictures. So, with the help of the very talented Andrea Kuehnis Photography, they set off into the woods to find the bluebells at the beautiful Tehidy National Park in Cornwall.

The bluebell woodland is such a beautiful setting for these post wedding pictures. Emilie had the most magnificent oversized bridal bouquet with a combination of flowers and trailing foliage. The soft colour palette of cream and white with a pop of pink works so well with the green foliage, and looks great against the backdrop of the woodland and bluebells. And just look at that floral crown – oh my! I still think all brides should wear a floral crown!

Emilie’s style is very natural. Her sheath silhouette lace wedding dress is exquisite, and make-up artist Julie Wiz created a lovely natural glow for Emilie – oh those blue eyes! I have complete eyelash envy going on here. And Darren looks super cool in his chinos and brown tweed jacket, finished off with a fab bow tie.

These amazing pictures by Andrea Kuehnis Photography have captured such fabulous light coming through the trees. I hope you enjoy them…

Soft and Romantic Style

“Cornwall has become my second home, and I visit at least twice a year. I’ve had the pleasure of doing several photo shoots there.

“Although married for a year, Emilie and Darren never really had their dream wedding photos. That’s why we talked about making her dream come true.

“I immediately thought about the beautiful spring time with the many thousands of bluebells the English woodlands are so well known for. It’s a magical time of the year, and Emilie’s soft and romantic style worked perfectly with the location in Tehidy National Park.”
