We are delighted to be sharing the pictures of Bas and Lars’ spectacular wedding at De Deugdzonde in Belgium, captured by the very talented David Walters Photography. Bas and Lars had a wonderful outdoor wedding ceremony (then a thunderstorm hit!), with a fabulous reception under a sperry tent.
The couple, along with their wedding planner, created the prettiest wedding styling, with an abundance of bright coloured flowers, ribbons and personalised details. We love the personalised wedding favours – bags filled with little treats, including a hangover kit!
Every picture of Bas and Lars shows the love they have for each other. David Walters did any amazing job capturing the special moments and emotion of the day.
“Bas(tiaan) and I (Lars) met in the dog park in Brussels. He is Belgian and I am German, and we both had spent some years abroad before we both moved – independently – to Brussels (Bas grew up in Gent).
“It was love at first sight for the both of us, as well as our dogs. I brought two vizslas into the family and Bas his Spanish greyhound. A whirlwind romance turned serious very quickly, and we soon moved into a terraced house in the Brussels suburbs. We have never looked back.”
An Amazing Day in the Flemish Countryside
“Our wedding last summer was an amazing day, seeing all our friends from the different places we had lived. Even a giant thunderstorm that blew over most of the dinner tables did not deter us.
“Our wedding took place at De Deugdzonde, a converted farm that now serves as a B&B in the middle of the Flemish countryside.
“We made our own favours. Our friends who are graphic designers put a quick B&L logo together, which we printed onto bags, which were filled with handmade soap, a hangover kit, and personalised M&Ms.
“Another friend works for one of the biggest flower importers in Belgium, and he helped us by ordering, delivering, and arranging all the flowers. I think we had over 2,500 flowers to display.”
Not a Dry Eye in the House
“Lieke, our celebrant, was very special. She gave a wonderful ceremony, telling our story and there was not a dry eye in the house. It was about celebrating ‘us’, and we can’t stress enough what an amazing job she did.
“Seeing that we had to organize a 180 guest wedding, with an open bar, in the Belgian countryside, our wedding planner, Julie, was our angel. She did an amazing job throughout.”
Photos from Every Angle
“Our photographer, David, could not have done a better job. We didn’t hear him or see him (for most of the day) and yet there were photos from every angle during every phase. Everyone was very impressed when they saw the photos online, and we could not be happier with David and his work. Amazing!
“Looking back at our wedding we are both still excited how everything came together. Despite the stress beforehand, we’d do it all over again!”
