Coastal Woodland Elopement Styling in Blue and Grey

Styled by Danielle of The Wedding Hub, these coastal woodland elopement styling ideas were created as part of a photography workshop held by Amber of Liberty Pearl.

With the backdrop of the beautifully wild Devonshire coastline and the rustic New Barton Barns venue, these styling ideas in soft hues of blue and grey are perfect for an elopement or intimate UK wedding.

Mixing coastal and woodland charm, natural elements with touches of luxury give a wonderful tranquil vibe. The tablescape looks so pretty with rustic place settings and handmade silk linen. Taper candles and wild floral arrangements surround rustic napkins, dried flowers and fine art wedding stationery. Hanging above the table, a fabulous floral installation adds to the wild and rustic nature of the shoot.

The bridal styling is both relaxed and charming. Ghost London wedding dresses teamed with a grey leather jacket and a cosy grey chunky-knit shawl give two different looks, but both perfect for the setting.

Coastal and Woodland Ideas

“We based the styling for this shoot on a combination of coastal and woodland ideas. It was wonderful to work with Amber’s ideas and bring the concept together with a creative team of suppliers.

“New Barton Barns is a coastal wedding venue in Devon nestled amongst beautiful farmland and woodlands. The softness of the foliage found near the coastline and the billowing cloud forms inspired the tablescape. For such a private moment it felt right to use gentle, fine and billowing shapes to create closeness and delicate softness. Overall I wanted to create a tablescape with a natural, simple feel, as well as adding luxurious touches. Deep, rich colours added contrast and textures to the shades of blue, grey and silver used throughout.

“Handmade paper and a touch of gold foil gave the stationery a fine art feel. Inspired by the sea, watercolour created a lovely texture and depth to the design, with old school calligraphy adding a whimsical and romantic feel.

“The idea of creating a real intimacy to the elopement inspired the floral design. The use of a very warm, evocative set of rooms and the wild openness created something textured, very feminine and soft. Using local, seasonal flora and avoiding the use of plastic where possible is key to my work, so this was a brilliant opportunity to show you can create something stunning and poetic, yet still ethical.”

Wild Bridal Style

“We wanted every item to reflect the beautiful setting, and the coastal inspired rings and cufflinks were perfect for this shoot.

“Our beautiful dresses were as wild as we could find, and we loved how the beautiful layers blew freely in the strong coastal winds. They were both light but with a hint of colour for the non traditional bride. Our strong, wild hair and make-up choices reflected the vast open landscape, stormy coastlines and untamed cliff top winds.”
