Two of my loves in this world are flowers and food, so I just had to feature Kate’s splendid modern floral and foodie hen party. If you’d like to do something a bit different, these wonderful ideas should inspire you for your own girlie celebrations.
Forget 80s dance classes or cocktail making and think outside of the box when it comes to planning a hen party. If the bride is a foodie then how about planning the ultimate foodie affair? Now that’s my kind of party!
Abundant Blooms
Kate, the beautiful bride-to-be, had the most spectacular and fun hen party, with all the details perfectly captured by Long Way Home Photography. The venue, The Farm Yarra Valley, was styled in a modern black and lilac palette. Abundant blooms and statement furniture created an elegant look, and to tie in with the modern floral theme, flower chairs formed part of the lawn lounge area, the perfect spot to take in the view.
During the day the bride and her girls enjoyed cheese and wine as they took part in a flower crown workshop, with each hen making a fabulous floral crown to wear during the festivities. After the workshop it was straight out to play handcrafted lawn games, which included a cute macramé badminton net with vintage rackets.
Local Produce
The day was all about the hen’s love of food and the venue did not disappoint. Locally sourced produce and generous share platters delighted the ladies, with canapés of goat cheese tortellini and cured trout brioche setting the tone of things to come. Once seated, the girls enjoyed generous antipasto platters followed by chicken and feta galantine and spice crusted lamb shoulder, accompanied by sides as delicious as the mains. For dessert, cakes were served for the cake-obsessed hen. Think champagne and strawberry, chocolate stout, lemon myrtle citrus, toffee and blackcurrant and white chocolate and raspberry with coconut.
