It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, don’t you think? Today’s feature is another lovely dose of festive charm… a magical red, black and gold winter wedding shoot, captured by Jordan Weiland.
With Christmas nearly upon us it’s the perfect time to share these beautiful ideas. I love to see rich, deep colour combinations during the winter season. The rich reds and opulent golds, together with black, make a wonderful colour palette.
The fabulous floral arrangements are a visual delight with the addition of black grapes in the centre of the tablescape. The table styling also includes marvellous black candles, gold chargers, coloured glass, and a sparkly sequinned table runner. For the place settings the team used dark red apples with calligraphy lettering – they look amazing.
If you’re planning a winter or Christmas wedding then what do you think of these beautiful ideas?
Splurge and Save
“The winter season and the European feel of this old Scottish-style castle nestled in the Rocky Mountain foothills inspired this shoot. An epic backdrop, gorgeous lush flowers and DIY ideas, this shoot is beautiful inspiration for a winter wedding, and a great showcase of how to do a mix of a ‘splurge and save’ event.
“The invitations were a nod to old-world penmanship with calligraphy, thick paper with torn edges and a wax seal.”
Dark Florals
“Black candles and dark florals mixed with the winter snow and place settings showed the complexity of the two contrasting from one another. The florals were definitely a splurge from Alexan Events, but we paired them with DIY painted candles. The candles were so gorgeous – who knew you could paint candles whatever colour you want?
“The reception tables were a mix of metals and then the contrast of light and dark. Grapes in the florals gave a deep purple hue. The apple place names were a nod to the Scottish tradition of a wedding prophecy, created by paring an apple so that the skin comes off in one length. As the clock struck twelve it was swung round the head and thrown over the left shoulder. When it landed it would form the first letter of the name of the future spouse.
“Our models were a real couple, marrying in May. Our bride wore a simple Ines Di Santo gown with a beautiful fur wrap, and our groom an affordable classic suit from H&M.
“The cakes were also a more affordable option – a mixture of ready-made sizes and flavours topped with fruit or flowers. This styling made them seem like a completely custom option.”
Intimate Wedding Ceremony
“We wanted to use the beauty of the castle as the backdrop for most of the spaces, and the courtyard provided a lovely space for an intimate wedding ceremony. We created a ceremony table with candles and draped greenery all dusted with snow.
“Snow rolled in on us and, while it clouded our view, gave beautiful light and added a wintry element we couldn’t have made up on our own.”
