It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… As it’s December I feel I’m now officially allowed to mention the C word! I’m trying not to peak too soon, but looking at these amazing festive pictures of Claire and Kyle’s beautiful Christmas wedding at The Watermill Hotel is making my excitement for Christmas start already.
I love a Christmas wedding, whether styled with a modern take on Christmas decor or with a traditional flair like this wedding. For me a Christmas wedding is all about the lights – lots and lots of twinkling lights – and that’s what I love about Claire and Kyle’s wedding.
Along with the abundance of twinkling lights, there are of course Christmas trees, baubles, pine cones, snowflakes and the prettiest bouquets of red roses mixed with spruce foliage, holly and berries. I really love the cute buttonholes with spruce, berries and little pine cones.
Claire chose a gorgeous wedding dress with an incredible tulle-layered skirt, finished with a beautiful sparkling belt that glistened under the twinkling Christmas lights. Her dress was completed with a fluffy white shrug.
You’ve got to love a red bow tie for a Christmas wedding – Kyle and his best man look so dapper! The red of the bow ties matches the beautifully elegant bridesmaid dresses, chair bows and the ribbon on their stunning wedding cake. This just shows how much attention to detail Claire and Kyle have put in to their wedding styling. You are going to love it!
Grab a cuppa (it’s probably a bit early in the morning for mulled wine!) and enjoy being in Christmas wedding heaven whilst you look at these beautiful pictures by Masha Unwerth.
Magical Setting
“Kyle and I met on a very random night out in Watford; I was out with my sister and Kyle with work mates. There were a few mojitos consumed that night!
“When Kyle proposed we were on holiday in Disney, Florida, staying in the Disney Hotel and visiting the parks. We are both fans of all things Disney and big kids at heart.
“Kyle had booked dinner in the Beauty and the Beast restaurant one evening. The setting was magical with projected snow falling and beautiful décor. Between courses, Kyle got down on one knee. I thought he had dropped something, until he produced a ring in a lit ring box and asked me to marry him… I said yes, of course.”
Adding Sparkle
“I chose a dress that made me feel like a princess, finding the perfect shape in David’s Bridal. To add sparkle I had a diamanté belt sewn on to the dress – it was perfect!
“Kyle, his best man, the father of the bride and our pageboys looked dapper in navy tuxedos with red bow ties and cummerbunds. Our bridesmaids looked stunning in red dresses, and the flower girls in pretty ivory dresses.”
Winter and Christmas Theme
“We love all things Christmas, so what better than a winter and Christmas themed wedding? We styled our venue, The Watermill Hotel, with red, green, Christmas trees and twinkling lights. Our centrepieces were glass containers of baubles and fairy lights, and we used fir cones to hold our place name cards. For our meal we enjoyed a traditional turkey dinner.”
Mr and Mrs Quiz
“Our friends Iain and Jane hosted a ‘Mr & Mrs’ quiz to entertain our guests after the meal. A DJ provided by the wedding venue played a playlist created by us and our friends and family, and we had a photobooth with unique backdrop that was great fun for everyone.
“There are so many great memories from the day. Saying ‘I do’ to the love of my life was what the day was all about, and that was a so special. During our first dance we talked and sang to each other throughout, which was a really happy moment. Also, dancing through an arch of our guests and kissing them all farewell to ‘Don’t stop believing’ was a great way to end the night!”
Have Fun!
“Our advice for other couples is to enjoy every minute and have fun! Dance if you like dancing, chat if you like chatting, and stop and take it all in for a few minutes here and there.”
