The line ‘we loved with a love that was more than a love’ from Edgar Allan Poe’s poem ‘Annabel Lee’ inspired Amanda Karen to create this incredible luxury styled shoot. The styling details are opulent and romantic, and the backdrop of Hedsor House in Buckinghamshire is perfect.
I love the dark, luxurious colours that play against the pink styling touches – the black wedding cake, black wine glasses, the brides’ dark smokey eye make-up and lipstick, and the incredible deep purple wedding dress; just look at that dress!
If you are looking to move away from the traditional wedding colour pallets I’m sure you’ll love these ideas as much as I do…
“The inspiration behind this shoot founded on the Edgar Allan Poe poem ‘Annabel Lee’, in particular the line ‘we loved with a love that was more than a love’.”
Dark and Romantic
“Deep reds, elegant blacks and opulent golden touches wove the dark and romantic nature of this poem through the shoot. Hedsor House, with its iconic looming stature and its luxurious interiors, was a natural choice for the venue .
“The phrase ‘less is more’ is often attributed to wedding styling. For this shoot we went the opposite way with a ‘more is more’ attitude, and this was most evident in the luxurious haute couture feel to the dresses the models wore. Shying away from the traditional white or ivory dresses, we instead opted for rich colours and sumptuous fabrics.
“This wedding styling would suit a stately home or grand hotel and it exudes high end luxury and extravagant details. With such a rich colour palette this would be ideal for a winter wedding.”
