Quantock Lakes in Somerset provided the most serene setting for Natalie and Thomas’ beautiful wedding. The couple chose a rustic theme for their wedding styling using wooden discs, mini milk pails, Gin bottles with dripped candle wax and personalised wooden heart confetti as part of their table decor.
We love the choice of flowers for this rustic wedding, especially the bold craspedia – we do love a wedding with Billy buttons!
Thomas and Natalie’s wedding styling is so beautiful and the stand-out detail of this wedding is the incredible 4ft floral LOVE sign… wow!
Thomas Frost Photography has done an incredible job capturing the fabulous details of this wedding and tell the story of the day…
Fresh, Rustic Feel
“We loved that Quantock Lakes had lots of natural light open space and a lovely fresh, rustic feel. The views around the venue were amazing too.
“I wore an Annasul Y dress which I found in the White Collection Boutique in Clevedon. I had no idea what kind of dress I wanted, I just didn’t want a full princess one. It was about the 25th dress I tried on, and the only one that made me cry in happiness – I felt amazing. I bought my headpiece and floor-length veil from the white collection too.
“My five bridesmaid all had different body shapes and in the end I got them all together and showed them a few different styles. They all chose the same style – pastel green backless lace top with full length chiffon bottom – which suited them all.
“Thomas chose a sharkskin (blue/grey) ‘Tailor Me’ three piece suit that matched the groomsmen’s suits. He accessorised with a pale yellow silk paisley tie and pocket square, whilst the groomsmen had knitted mustard ties.
“Although Thomas had spent a lot of time and effort in planning his attire he didn’t have any suitable socks the day before the wedding, and ended up wearing Snow White socks!”
Flowers
“Our wedding flowers included yellow tulips, gypsophila, statice, feverfew, carnations, lilies, pale green roses and craspedia. We used combinations of these flowers for the bouquets and various displays.
“For our table centrepiece flowers we placed mini milk pails containing yellow tulips, gypsophila, statice, fever few and carnations onto log slices. There were also gin bottles with either gypsophila or led lights in them, and home-made kilner jars with jasmine scented soy candles. We scattered the tables with personalised wooden heart confetti, and used wooden discs for place names.
Gin Bottle Table Plan
“We made our table plan using different gin bottles placed on a wooden mirrored tray. Each gin bottle had a label around the neck with our guests’ names and corresponded with a gin bottle on each of the table centrepieces.
“Our favours were brown pillow boxes containing mini eggs (for Easter weekend) wrapped in string with a skeleton key/bottle opener.
“Home-made bunting, a four ft floral LOVE sign, a pallet with the order of the day on painted on it, and a large log slice wedding sign completed our reception decor.
“Our beautiful wedding cake was three tiers – fruit, chocolate and lemon – decorated with sugar daisies and craspedia, and cake bunting.”
Evening Entertainment
“Our photographer set up a studio with a white screen and props, and we made a photo hanging board where everyone could hang their photos. As the night went on the photos got funnier.
“We asked all our guests to choose a song to play during the wedding breakfast so ended up with a massive mixture. In the evening we went for an indie rock cover band who sang songs that everyone loved. The dance floor always had people on their feet and they performed an amazing acoustic cover of our first dance song (Secret Smile by Semisonic).
“As people we knew contributed so much (flowers by Thomas’ mother, bunting by my mother and our cake by a close family friend) it made the day extra special.”
