Your hen do may be a huge celebration, but not every mother-in-law wants to come face to face with a stripper, or anything else. If you are trying to make a good impression, Last Night of Freedom has thought of everything. Lauren has rounded up the best hen party activities your mother-in-law will enjoy. But, feel free to book those strippers…
London Bus Afternoon Tea Tour
Capture the capital’s charm on board a red, double-decker bus.
Afternoon tea on a bus is quintessentially British, and this vintage vehicle will take you around London’s greatest sights – with the addition of lashings of tea.
You’ll go on a whirlwind tour of The London Eye, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, St James’ Park, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, The Royal Albert Hall, Marble Arch, Piccadilly Circus, Nelson’s Column and even more, under the guidance of a uniformed London bus driver.
Of course, this is all going on whilst tucking into a selection of tasty sandwiches, pastries and cakes – in the delightfully kitsch interior, boasting red booths and twinkling lights. Your mother-in-law will have never been so happy.
ABBA Dance Class
Take the Mil (mother-in-law for those not in the know) all the way back to her youth on your hen weekend, with an ABBA dance class.
The swinging 70s were a better time – all flares, perms and hairy chests – and ABBA was the very best. That all-singing, all-dancing husband and wife (recipe for disaster) group spawned some of the best moves of the decade, and we’re still trying to emulate them. This class will take you from 0 to Dancing Queen, and the winner really will take it all, as the star dancer wins a bottle of bubbly.
Bubble Mayhen
Perhaps you’ve got an active mother-in-law, or you are trying to build a solid relationship – so chuck her in an inflatable zorb.
Bubble Mayhen, one of our most popular hen weekend activities, is the classic Bubble Football, but with a twist. You’ll all be encased in the giant zorbs and let loose on the pitch during various games. There’s also forfeits for those that think they can get away with minimal effort.
Your mother-in-law probably won’t thank you for it, but you’ll have snapshots of the day to treasure, as well as a bottle of bubbly to drink as soon as you leave the venue.
Cocktail Workshop
Cocktail workshops are a staple of all god hen weekends.
This is not your usual class – we’ve arranged a boozy afternoon in one of the best bars in Manchester. The Fitzgerald is a speakeasy-style bar, dedicated to the dazzling 1920s. The interior is Prohibition inspired, and Great Gatsby himself would be proud.
Speaking of the man, this cocktail workshop is based on his vicarious life, with exclusive use of the venue, whilst making and (most importantly) drinking two cocktails each. You’ll even sit down for a showing of the film before getting entry to several spectacular bars.
Chocolate Making Workshop
Craft a whole load of delicious treats on your hen do.
Everyone loves to bake – we have Mary Berry to thank for that – and you’ll get to know the subtle art of chocolate making with an expert. Said pro, Jane Williams for short, will go through her history and all she knows, before imparting her wisdom on how to temper chocolate. You will also produce professional (as much as can be) strawberry and champagne truffles, pipe and decorate chocolate heart-shaped lollipops, and even create your own unique ‘friendship chocolate plaque’, to eat immediately.
As if all of that isn’t enough, you’ll dine on a scrummy chocolate fondue, with strawberries and marshmallows, during the class.
Private Cinema Experience
There’s nothing more VIP than your own cinema, and we’ve got a private cinema experience to put all other activities to shame.
You and your hen group will have exclusive hire of the viewing room, with unprecedented access to those all-important aisle seats (you know what we mean). You can screen any film you choose from the library, or even bring in your own DVD. It’s the ultimate in comfort, and there’ll be popcorn, sweets and soft drinks throughout the showing. Alternatively, as it’s your hen do, bring your own drinks for a small corkage fee.
