This wedding is super cool, super stylish, super relaxed and best all, super fun! We have never featured a wedding with a piñata before, but we now feel that every wedding should have one! Kirstie and Emilio’s wedding at The Grounds of Alexandria is just amazing (can you tell we love it?!).
The wedding reception looks so relaxed and fun; the long banqueting tables where guests feasted on the most delicious looking food set the scene for the relaxed atmosphere. The incredible hanging baskets, beautiful floral centrepieces and cute pot plants were the perfect decor for the day, not to mention the really cool ‘I Got You Babe’ illuminated sign that made a great backdrop for the pictures.
We adore Kirstie’s Oscar de la Renta wedding dress. It’s so simple, feminine and stylish, and it is complemented so well with the bridesmaids’ beautiful silver-grey dresses.
Lara Hotz was the lady who captured this wedding, and her pictures tell such a beautiful story of Kirstie and Emilio’s fabulous day.
The Strongest Friendship
“Emilio and I met in our first lecture at uni. I was sitting behind him, he turned around and started a conversation, and the rest is history. We got along so well and spent so much time together. I think that’s the reason we make such a great team – our relationship is founded on the strongest friendship.
“Emilio proposed while we were away for a glamping getaway for his birthday. From the very beginning I was suspecting he might pop the question, especially when we went on a hike followed by a romantic picnic by the beach. However, he didn’t propose then!
“In the end he actually caught me completely off guard. Late that evening I came out of the shower and Emilio was down on one knee. He was surrounded by candles and had a pink diamond ring in his hand. I managed to say yes between the happy tears, and laughter at the fact that he had actually surprised me after all!”
Organised and Talented
“I have no idea what we would have done without our photographer, Lara. Emilio and I are like deer in the headlights when we are in the spotlight or in front of a camera. But Lara is one of the most organised and talented people we have ever met. We have nothing but praise for her, and she truly went above and beyond.
“I also want to mention my make-up artist, Liv Lundelius. Her passion for honest, natural make-up is so refreshing. I felt so beautiful and, most importantly, I felt like myself.”
The Grounds of Alexandria
“Long before we were even engaged I knew that I wanted to have our wedding at The Grounds of Alexandria. It’s one of our favourite spaces.
“Our favourite detail from the day was the ‘I Got You Babe’ sign. It was a stunning backdrop to our first dance, and it illuminated the room beautifully.
“Our family and friends helped us make a few things, including the bride and groom piñatas. They were so tough to crack though we ended up tearing them to shreds!”
