Wedding food has changed so much over the last few years. Of course, the traditional wedding breakfast will always play a big part, but if you are having a more relaxed wedding and are not going for the traditional sit down meal, then there are plenty of amazing ideas for really cool food to wow your wedding guests. Today we have some amazing inspirational ideas for a different type of wedding catering. We are not talking about hog roasts, barbecues or buffets, oh no… something much more delightful. We are talking about the incredible wedding grazing station.
Grazing stations are a fairly new concept for UK weddings but are already a really hot trend. Rather than having a sit down meal and food served directly to your guests, the grazing station is all about your guests helping themselves to delectable treats. This is a great way to cater for guests if you are looking to create a wonderful relaxed wedding.
The amazingly talented team behind this wedding grazing station inspiration shoot not only created the most delicious looking treats, but each ‘station’ is styled too. They feature sweet treats including individual desserts, a cool ice cream bar, the most splendid doughnut wall, and a fabulous savoury table with cheeses, breads and canapés.
The styling of each station is so pretty (just look at the flowers) and is very fitting with each type of food. Having a grazing station (or even stations) that offers yummy treats and is beautifully created will not only wow your guests but will be a real visual centrepiece too.
Just how darn cool are these wedding grazing station ideas…
“I originally approached Kalm Kitchen at the beginning of last year to ask if they fancied collaborating. Jen (the creative director from Kalm Kitchen) and I are totally on the same wavelength. We get all giddy when we get together to discuss creative ideas involving flowers and food. It’s our guilty pleasure!
“Marianne’s photography is just gorgeous and so creative, so we wanted her to capture the grazing stations in all their glory.
“The plan was to create four different wedding grazing station themes to reflect the different seasons. We wanted to experiment with colours, textures and new designs (from the flowers, food and photography perspective), creating new inspiration for potential clients.”
Spring/Summer
“I love texture and organic natural surroundings, so that’s where the spring/summer tree idea came from. I wanted to create something big and ‘wow’ in the middle of the table; a real focal statement point! The spring flowers growing up from the table creates a natural, magical talking point amongst guests, and complemented the delicate and colourful desserts by Kalm Kitchen.”
Ice Cream Bar
“The ice cream bar and doughnut wall station were Kalm Kitchen’s idea, I just gave my opinion on colours and texture. I thought it would be nice to keep the scientific, clinical look of the ice cream bar by using just clean glass and white flowers.”
Doughnut Wall
“To me doughnuts scream colour and ‘hundreds and thousands’ sprinkles. I thought it would be fun to use really blowsy, soft flowers with pops or bright colour to create impact.”
Autumn
“The final table was all about autumnal, raw, earthy organic textures (much like the style of food). The inspiration came from the forest floor, including pieces of bark and twigs, pine cones, feathers, and autumnal colours. Brass candlesticks created a slightly more glamorous feel, as well as adding warmth to the colour palette.”
