2016 Bridal Make-Up and Hairstyles from Team Glam

This post 2016 Bridal Make-Up and Hairstyles from Team Glam first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog

Ok ladies, if you are looking for ideas for your wedding hair and make-up, then you are in for a treat today. Team Glam has created some bridal looks to die for in their latest style collection for 2016.

We love the the bridal make-up looks for 2016 – and the hairstyles, well, wow! From curly, elegant up-dos, to 50s chic, and even a Mohican inspired style, there really is something for every bride…

Miss Zoe – An Effortlessly Elegant Bridal Look

Elegant bridal look

We created our ‘signature’ bridal look for Zoe – soft, beautifying and effortlessly elegant. Concentrating on defining her eyes, we opted for neutral and beautifully blended tones. There are no definite lines and all of the shading is perfectly placed to accentuate Zoe’s gorgeously large eyes.

Bride with defined eyes and elegant make-up

This softly curled bridal hairstyle was created using clip in extensions and padding, which gave a luxurious full look. Extensions in two shades were used to define the curl and structure the hairstyle, giving that effortlessly elegant finish.

Miss Jenny – A Very Current, Soft and Pretty Bridal Look

Soft and pretty bridal look

We created a very current bridal look for Jenny; soft and pretty, using peach and sage tones on her eyes. The perfect, flawless, HD finish was created by using Airbase make-up on Jenny’s skin, and very soft contouring was applied using fresh peach/apricot tones, mixing peach blush, to really emphasize Jenny’s amazing bone structure.

Bridal make-up using Airbase make-up

Jenny’s hair was tightly barrel curled, and extensions were added and then pinned in place over padding to create fullness at the nape. The front section was left down to frame the face. This hairstyle, which has been very popular with our brides, is very secure whilst looking very soft and un-done.

Miss Lucy S – 50s/60s Bridal Style with a Twist

Avant-garde bridal look

This strong avant-garde look was inspired by the 50s/60s, with a twist; this is all about the eyes, with vibrant colour, liquid eyeliner and dark brows. For this cutting edge look we really emphasized Lucy’s super skin and stunning features using a range of strong contouring, highlighting and sculpting techniques. This look was finished with an ombre pink lip for a confident bride.

Vibrant bridal eye make-up look

This is one of our more avant-garde looks which show how hair can be sculpted into more elaborate sleek shapes. Again hair extensions were used with padding, which was placed on the crown to create the volume.

Miss Stephanie – Old School Hollywood Glamour Bridal Style

Hollywood glamour bridal look

For Stephanie it is all about the old school Hollywood glamour. With the perfect hue of red on the lips, matte skin and winged eyeliner, bringing the look more up to date with the defined brows. Brides are still going crazy for this timeless classic, and what we really love about this look is that it can be adapted to a softer look during the day by toning down the lip colour.

Hollywood glamour bridal make-up

Directionally barrel curling the hair created classic Hollywood waves, which had extensions added to create both volume and length. For added interest and drama the side was swept back – a truly glamorous look.

Miss Leanne – The Rock Star Bride Look

Rock star bridal look

With heavy, smoky eyes and very definite black lines, Leanne is the Rock Star bride. This look is all about bold metallics in gold and bronze. Those shades were really complemented by Leanne’s amazing skin tone, and we we’re able to put those into her complexion as well by using bronze and glow powders.

Smoky eyes bridal make-up

An avant-garde Mohican inspired hairstyle created on naturally very curly hair, the hair was back-combed to create volume on this very striking style. To add interest and drama small feather extensions were added.

Miss Lucy A – Bold and Confident Bridal Style

Bold and confident bridal look

Taking some inspiration from Asian bridal make-up, Lucy’s make-up was bold and confident. Metallics are blended perfectly to really open up that almond eye shape, and lots of highlighting techniques were used on Lucy’s skin for that flawless HD finish. We kept the overall make-up looking fresh and not to heavy by adding a pop of colour to Lucy’s lips.

Fresh bridal make-up

This hairstyle used two pad and hair extensions to create the look, and some blonde extensions were also used to add highlights to the sculpted style. This avant-garde look could easily be adapted to a large chignon at the nape or statement bun.

Miss Sophie – A Natural, Beautiful Bridal Look

Light and natural bridal look

Everything about Sophie’s make-up is light and beautifying. It’s the perfect ‘no make-up, make-up’; the make-up that when people see you they know your look beautiful but can’t work out why. Lots of our bridal clients ask for a very natural look and this is exactly what has been created for Sophie. All the shades are very neutral and there are no definite lines – it’s soft, blended and radiant.

Natural bridal make-up

Once again we used extensions to create this softly braided hairstyle. Using a small barrel tong the hair was curled first to create the texture that defines the braid. This hairstyle works well on all hair types and colours, especially when extensions in two shades are added for extra definition.

The Abigail Bloom Cake Company 2016 Wedding Cake Collection

This post The Abigail Bloom Cake Company 2016 Wedding Cake Collection first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog

We have serious cake swoon today with the incredible 2016 wedding cake collection from The Abigail Bloom Cake Company. These wedding cakes are so pretty and elegant, and we’re sure you are going to fall in love with these designs like we have.

We love the cool ‘double height’ tiers that some of these wedding cakes have, giving them a real wow factor. Just look at the delicate pastels, metallics and shimmer.

Abigail’s cakes are always incredible and this year’s collection is another example of her talented work…

With our 2016 wedding cake collection I wanted to, as always, create designs that were elegant, simple and stunning, but I also wanted to bring in different dimensions to the proportions of the designs, which can help create a more stimulating visual ‘display’. 2016 sees us bring in our almost double height tiers (at 8″ tall) to our designs, as well as the use of more half height tiers and our regular height tiers of 5″.

I always strive to create every wedding cake with a real ‘wow’ factor, but moreover endeavour to create wedding cakes that I feel will reflect couples’ theme/dress/style of wedding, and that perhaps are missing from our repertoire. Simple and elegant or theatrical and dramatic, we love to create them all!

Ophelia

The Ophelia wedding cake design was inspired by the fabulous gold roof dome at Claridge’s, which we saw just before Christmas, so it was quite a late addition to our initial designs; perfect for an elegant and classic or Art Deco wedding.

Edible gold leaf, gold shimmer with white sugar moth orchids. Feeds 95. Price £845. (Available from 40 portions upwards)

Gigi

Gigi was inspired a little by Le Moulin Rouge and various architectural features. I also like to try and create one wedding cake in a new collection that is a little dramatic!

Gigi dramatic, period style wedding cake 2016 by The Abigail Bloom Cake Company

Period toile design, rococo style mouldings, silver leaf and sumptuous black velvet ribbon. Feeds 80+. Prices from £750

Isabella

Having seen all the stunning wedding dresses that continue to be covered in stunning piped and beaded lace, I wanted the Isabella wedding cake to reflect this, along with a new trend of using feathers.

Isabella piped lace wedding cake 2016 by The Abigail Bloom Cake Company

Ivory fondant, white piped lace, sugar peony and blossom flowers, piped sugar swags and piped pearls, and rice paper feathers. Feeds 60+. Prices from £595

Fleurie

I loved the enchanted forest feel that brides were starting to choose last year, and can absolutely see this becoming a new trend. Buttercream cakes and naked cakes are often really the only wedding cakes that can suit this, but Fleurie offers something different for this type of wedding.

Fleurie wedding cake 2016 with colourful sugar flowers by The Abigail Bloom Cake Company

Bridal white fondant, and various wild sugar flowers and leaves. Feeds 120. £825

Beatrice

Our edible sequins never fail to appeal to the bride and groom, and with metallic, lace and ruffles continuing in their popularity for weddings in 2016 I wanted to try and include this in one wedding cake, Beatrice, but as always trying to provide something a little different to what is already out there.

Beatrice metallic wedding cake 2016 by The Abigail Bloom Cake Company

Pearl white, edible, hand punched sequins, edible rice paper painted in blush pink, sugar roses, buds and blossoms, piped sugar lacework and silver leaf. Feeds 120. £925

Georgie

I have been a massive fan of the watercolour paints on cakes since they first came out, and at long last have managed to bring the element into one of our wedding cakes, Georgie. We didn’t want to create a watercolour cake unless it made the impact we wanted.

Picture of the Year 2015 Winner

This post Picture of the Year 2015 Winner first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog

And the winner of The Wedding Community’s Picture of the Year 2015 is… Katherine Ashdown Photography!

Bride and groom standing in front of large LOVE letters in field - Picture by Katherine Ashdown Photography

Huge congratulations to Katherine Ashdown Photography, winner of our Picture of the Year 2015 competition. Taken at Milly and Rob’s handmade, marquee wedding, the couple’s laid back approach and the fact the letters were “surprising light” made this shot possible. After 10 minutes of moving and setting up the letters in front of the beautiful sunset, Katherine captured this gorgeous image, the final shot of the night.

A runner-up in 2013, Katherine was delighted to hear she’d won…

“Wow I am over the moon to have won ‘Picture of the Year!’ It was amazing to win Picture of the Month, but to win for the whole year is just fantastic, thank you!

“This image was so much fun to shoot, and the lovely Milly and Rob were a real joy to shoot on their wedding day. This was pretty much the last shot of the night. My assistant Heather and I had packed up and were just heading to the car as the sky turned pink. These letters were standing by the marquee so as we passed I tried to pick one up thinking they would be too heavy to move, they were actually really light! So Heather and I grabbed them and moved them across the field to the setting sun, propping them up with croquet hooks! A quick test with lighting and I grabbed Milly and Rob who were all to happy to have one last photo, and we captured this. I was thrilled with it as soon as I shot it!

“A huge thank you to everyone who voted including my friends, family and couples, and for Milly and Rob for following my crazy idea – it was so worth it! Also, well done to all the other finalists, there was some incredible competition. Thank you to the Wedding Community – this photo has had rather a lot of attention and it is wonderful for new brides to see, and generate enquiries!”

This post Picture of the Year 2015 Runners-Up first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog

Our Picture of the Year 2016 competition is now closed, the votes have been counted, and the results are in… but before we reveal the winner of our Picture of the Year 2015 we’d like to give a special mention to the photographers who came second and third…

2nd Place

Bride and groom kissing on bridge over lake - Picture by Chris Chambers Photography

This stunning picture by Chris Chambers Photography took second place. Taken on the bridge next to the lake at Ripley Castle, North Yorkshire, at Claire and Andrew’s wedding, this picture was the result of “a grabbed moment” after Chris had looked back and saw “the colouring sky, clouds and railings creating great lines leading back to the castle”.

3rd Place

Bride and groom facing each other with sun shining between them - Picture by KTM Photography

Third place went to KTM Photography. This gorgeous picture was taken in May 2015 at the wedding of Louisa and Neil at Burntwood Court Hotel and Spa. As the sun started to set, Katie of KTM Photography took the couple away “to capture some precious moments with just the two of them”. As Louisa and Neil turned to face each other the setting sun highlighted them from behind and Katie captured this perfectly intimate moment between the two of them.

Our congratulations go to Chris and Katie. To see more of Chris Chambers Photography and KTM Photography’s work visit www.chrischambersphotography.co.uk and www.ktmphotography.co.uk

Top Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

This post Top Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog

Don’t you just love this season’s wedding colours? With bold bright tones mixed with nudes and subtle pastels, spring 2016 weddings are going to be awash with colour. This season’s colours pair perfectly with each other, giving you a diverse array of colours to play with. Whether you choose one colour or a mixture, there is a confetti mix just for you. Shropshire Petals share their top spring 2016 wedding confetti mixes…

Rose Quartz

Rose Quartz, a pretty pastel pink, is said to be the 2016 colour of the year! This gentle tone conveys compassion and a sense of composure. If you want to match this colour Shropshire Petals recommends their Candyfloss confetti.

Candyfloss Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

Rose Quartz pairs well with Serenity, Peach Echo and Lilac Grey. If you want to include all of these colours, create a unique pick and mix using Candyfloss, Frosted Blue and Lady Grey delphinium petals with a touch of Promise rose petals for a delicate colour splash.

Peach Echo

Peach Echo, a dusky orangey pink, is a warm shade of orange, and its inviting tone is great for being playful with colours. Shropshire Petals recommends their Coral Reef confetti mix, which includes hints of orange, pink and ivory.

Coral Reef Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

With such distinctive colours it can be difficult to find all of the details you want in your chosen colour scheme; include different shades around your chosen colour, which will make it easier to choose details as they don’t have to exactly match your wedding colour scheme.

Serenity

Serenity, a calming blue, is weightless and airy, with its smooth tone, just like the sky. For a bold colour splash on your wedding day, Serenity pairs well with Peach Echo, Snorkel Blue and Buttercup.

Candyfloss, Frosted Blue, Golden Slumber Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

Shropshire Petals recommends you mix these colours using Candyfloss, Frosted Blue, Ivory and Golden Slumber.

Icing Sugar, Duck Egg and Golden Slumber Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

If you would like a more subtle mix, Icing Sugar, Duck Egg and Golden Slumber would look stunning in your wedding photos.

Snorkel Blue

Snorkel Blue, a lovely naval tone, is bursting with energy, and is perfect combined with Ivory for a simple, yet bold wedding theme.

Something Blue Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

Add as much or as little colour as you wish; Shropshire Petals recommends their Something Blue. Snorkel Blue pairs well with Buttercup, Iced Coffee and Peach Echo.

Buttercup

Buttercup, a sunny, happy shade of yellow, is perfect for a spring wedding. This stunning colour can be dressed up by pairing it with other tones such as, Serenity, Snorkel Blue and Lilac Grey. If you want to keep your confetti simple, mix it with ivory or paler shades.

Sunshine Kisses Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

Shropshire Petals recommends their bright Sunshine Kisses mix of Honey’b calendula petals and Icing Sugar delphiniums.

Limpet Shell Weather

Limpet Shell Weather, a popular pastel green, is crisp, clear, clean and defined. This modern tone evokes tranquillity and freshness, perfect if you want a subtle wedding theme, with a hint of colour.

Summer Nights Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

This can be a difficult tone to match your details too, so why not combine it with Peach Echo, Rose Quartz or Iced Coffee.

Icing Sugar Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

Shropshire Petals recommends a contrast in colours, picking a few pastel shades to complement such as Summer Nights, or even Icing Sugar on its own.

Lilac Grey

Lilac Grey, an edgy neutral shade of grey, is great for vintage weddings. Shropshire Petals recommends you mix this lovely grey tone with their ivory Winters Morn delphinium petals.

Winters Morn Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

Add a touch of Serenity and Rose Quartz if you want to add more colour to your confetti moment with the Vintage Daydream mix.

Vintage Daydream Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

Lilac Grey also pairs well with Green Flash, Fiesta and Iced Coffee.

Fiesta

Fiesta, an exciting, fiery tone of red, is strong colour, which provides a stark contrast to the more calming colours. Fiesta pairs well with Green Flash; Shropshire Petals recommends you mix these two together with some ivory for a striking confetti mix.

Romeo and Juliette and Envy Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

A pick and mix of Icing Sugar, Envy and Romeo and Juliet will really stand out on photos. Fiesta also pairs well with Snorkel Blue and Limpet Shell.

Iced Coffee

Iced Coffee, a delicate tone of brown, is said to be a transitional colour that will take us through the seasons, so expect to see this around all year. This soft and subtle colour works well mixed with Serenity, Rose Quartz and Lilac Grey. Shropshire Petals recommends you combine other subtle colours, such as a pick and mix of Icing Sugar and Frosted Blue delphiniums, adding some Delilah rose petals.

Icing Sugar, Frosted Blue and Delilah Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

These colours work really well for vintage weddings and allow you to combine other neutral shades, without the colours being overbearing.

Green Flash

Green Flash, a bold shade of green, is a vivid, fresh tone, perfect for spring weddings. It pairs well with Snorkel Blue, Limpet Shell and Serenity.

Midnight Blue and Envy Petals Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

If you would like strong colours, Shropshire Petals recommends a pick and mix of Midnight Blue and Envy.

Something Blue and Envy Confetti - Confetti Colours for Spring 2016 Weddings

However, if you want something more subtle, a mix of Icing Sugar, Something Blue and Envy would work perfectly.
