I’ve had huge admiration for Rachel from Luella’s bridal for a long time. When The Wedding Community launched back in 2009 Rachel was on our expert panel providing bridal wear advice. I was therefore very excited when Luella’s Bridal launched their first beautiful collection of wedding dresses. Now I am delighted to share a fabulous new collection of five distinctly different dresses… the Luella’s Bridal Expectations 2018 Bridal Collection.
The Island Pod Rings crafted by Trinidadian jewellery designer Sarah May inspired the new collection. Sarah’s original engagement ring and her subsequent life journey inspired the rings, named Happy, Love, Dream, Believe and Abundance. It’s lovely to see a bridal collection designed to complement a piece of jewellery; it’s usually the other way round!
The Luella’s Bridal Expectations 2018 Collection includes a selection of low plunging backs, soft flowing skirts, stunning hand beaded lace and Luella’s signature pleated skirt. Each dress is handmade in the UK using a selection of the finest French lace, silk, satin, tulle and beaded appliqués, in a blend of soft ivory, cream and blush tones. Designs feature a mixture of simple, understated and intricately beaded slip style dresses, and beautiful lace and tulle gowns. Each dress has an element of sparkle, so even the simplest styles still look and feel special.
“It was such a pleasure to work with Sarah on this project. I have known Sarah for many years and have always wanted to work with her. Sarah’s unique collection of Island Pod Rings is perfect for our more relaxed type of customer and complements our slightly more modern style of dresses.
“I think my favourite dress from the Luella’s Bridal Expectations 2018 Collection has to be Isla. I love the simplicity of the bias cut design and I fell in love with the beautiful beading as soon as I saw it. Each appliqué is handmade to order, and I love the subtle ivory and blush tones. I also think it’s a really versatile style of dress and will work well for lots of different styles of wedding – everything from a chic city affair to a relaxed beach style wedding.” – Rachel Attwell, Owner of Luella’s Bridal
These are the five beautiful dresses in the Luella’s Bridal Expectations 2018 Collection, and the rings that inspired each dress…
Amber, Inspired by Dreams Ring
Amber is a modern, backless design made from cream Japanese handmade silk, and features Luella’s trade mark pleated skirt. It includes a racer neckline and stunning beaded straps in a mixture of milky white, blush and ivory tones.
Elsie, Inspired by Happy Ring
A simple, understated design made from the finest sand-washed off-white silk crepe with a gorgeous matt finish. Elsie features a low v neckline and back, medium-sized train, and fine metallic antique silver straps and waistband.
Isla, Inspired by Abundance Ring
This bias cut design features a low v neckline and plunging v back, framed with the most exquisite floral handmade beading design in ivory and soft blush tones. Isla is available in either off white, ivory or oyster silk satin, with an optional long, flowing train.
Layla, Inspired by Love Ring
Layla includes shoe string straps made from tiny ivory beads, which also feature on the waistband of the dress. Made from the finest French cotton lace layered over an ivory silk satin underlay, the Layla dress also features a medium-sized train with a beautiful trailing floral design.

The Nieve dress, made from French-inspired beaded lace in a beautiful floral design, features three-quarter length sleeves with a scalloped boat neckline and a low v back. The skirt is made from over sixteen metres of super-fine, soft flowing tulle and features a medium-sized train.
