Oh how we wish it would snow like this this Christmas! Never mind, we hope these snowy pictures of this winter wedding in Wisconsin make you feel festive and give you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside – imagine having a winter wedding just like this.
A bride in a cosy warm fur cape, bridesmaids in gorgeous mismatched dresses and winter boots, baby’s breath bouquets, mistletoe buttonholes, and snow everywhere… just perfect for a winter wedding.
Grab a glass of mulled wine (go on, it’s Christmas Eve), snuggle up and enjoy the beautiful pictures from this winter wedding, photographed by Paper Antler…
“I grew up in Wisconsin, and some of my favourite memories are of cold, blustery winter days, snowed in at home with a fire burning. It was this cosy feeling, being so warm and content despite the weather outdoors, that we wanted to recreate for our December wedding. Dan and I also wanted to throw a good party, and infuse classic, vintage elements.
“We quickly found our perfect wedding venue. The gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows, crystal chandeliers and neutral tones of Lake Windsor Golf Club were perfect for the metallic colour scheme we’d envisioned.
“Our invitations were designed by one of my bridesmaids, a very talented graphic designer, and my mother helped me paint the table numbers, create the metallic paper signs, and spent many hours making cocktail stirrers by glueing silver and gold tinsel to bamboo skewers.
“The beautiful chalkboard designs were hand-lettered by Dan’s sister, who’s an incredibly talented artist, and my grandmother made my veil and the flower girl dresses. On the eve of the wedding I stayed up late with my bridesmaids and mother-in-law to assemble the centrepieces, bouquets and buttonholes, and I know I’ll cherish this memory forever.
“We collected vintage items from flea markets, thrift stores and relatives’ homes, including old books, typewriters, teacups, candleholders, gravy boats and serving bowls. We used an amazing vintage rental company called A La Crate for the larger items, including the hinged doors, chalkboard signs and suitcases.
“The old photographs from our parents’ and grandparents’ weddings, which we displayed with the cakes, were my favourite decorations. They created a great opportunity to talk to our family about their weddings as we planned our own, and added a touch of intimacy to the styling.
“We are so grateful to have worked with such kind and talented people, such as Jonny and Michelle from Paper Antler, Jennifer and Beth from Lake Windsor, and Pastor Dave and his wife Nancy from Blackhawk Church, as well as many others. Thank you! It was an absolute dream day for us, and I, for one, felt as if I was curled up in front of a fireplace the entire time.”
