Picture of the Month – June 2016
This post Picture of the Month – June 2016 first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog
And the winner is… Katherine Ashdown Photography!
We now have half of our finalists for our 2016 Picture of the Year competition, after this stunning picture by Katherine Ashdown Photography was voted The Wedding Community’s June 2016 Picture of the Month. Taken at Lucy and Steve’s wedding in Devon earlier this year, the couple were only too happy to climb the rocks by their beachfront venue so Katherine could get this shot…
“I am thrilled to have won Picture of the Month with this shot. This was taken at Steve and Lucy’s wedding at the incredible Tunnels Beaches in Devon. I am from Norfolk so had travelled down especially for their day in May this year.
“They had the most incredible weather and the venue is surrounded by angular cliffs and a private beach. Lucy is also a wedding photographer so the pressure was on, but that also meant they were up for anything I suggested, including climbing up these rocks for this shot.
“All day I had seen seagulls flying around and thought it would be lovely to capture them in a shot, but these two appeared at the perfect moment for this image.
“It was the most wonderful, fun, relaxed wedding and I felt very lucky to be able to capture it for them. This shot to me especially summarised their love of Devon and of this incredible venue so I am over the moon it won!”

Charity Wedding Auction in Aid of Cancer Treatment
This post Charity Wedding Auction in Aid of Cancer Treatment first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog
Watching a loved one receive a diagnosis of cancer is a heartbreaking situation for anyone to go through. For Plymouth mother Sue Fraser this was an experience she had to go through three times with daughter Emma, who is currently suffering with brain cancer. This is now being treated with natural and homeopathic remedies and a strict diet. Emma’s sister Danielle Donnelly, founder of the Wedding Hub, will be running a charity Wedding Auction this month to raise money for her treatment.
The first diagnosis
On December 23rd 2014, Emma was first diagnosed with Breast Cancer Stage 3. A 5cm lump was found in her left breast. On January 16th 2015, after further investigations, she was told the Breast Cancer was in fact now Stage 4 and had spread to her Lymph, Liver and Lungs.
Chemotherapy was started immediately and everything became a blur for Emma and her family. She suffered hideous side effects to the trial chemo and was on palliative care straight away. Her hair fell out and her body began to waver, but she refused point blank to die and decided three lots of chemo was all that she could take.
Eight months and three scans later, the cancer was practically gone
Her mother Sue doesn’t believe in fighting cancer, instead she began to study nutrition to understand how the human body’s immune system can be supported to deal with the abnormal cells of cancer itself.
She threw herself into research: natural, homeopathic, alternative remedies and nutrition. If there was a way to get her daughter better she was going to find it, and she did – a huge diet change and a strict daily routine that included two kilos of freshly juiced organic carrots, Essiac tea, no sugar, no dairy and no processed foods.
Emma’s health took on a different direction and just eight months and three scans later, the cancer was practically gone.
The worst news yet
However, on February 9th 2016, after 12 hours and an emergency MRI later, Emma was given the worst news yet. The cancer had not returned in her body, but it had invaded her brain. She was determined not to have any more chemo or radiotherapy, and decided there must be another way.
Sue started researching again and found a new diet that had worked for other brain cancer sufferers, alongside steroids, to help reduce the swelling in her head. Although the new diet helped, unfortunately, due to the late stage of discovery, Emma’s condition worsened and eventually she was taken into a Hospice after being given a prognosis of 24 hours.
An alternative to chemo
Whilst Emma was in St Luke’s Sue heard of a Homeopathic Consultant who believed he could help. He suggested remedies which could halt the spread of the cancer that could be used as an alternative to chemo.
“We never stopped looking for other ways in which to help Emma, something to stop the cancer spreading, to find a cure, anything that may take away the pain. So mum ordered the first lot of remedies and began the treatment.”
Raising awareness
As you can imagine, alternative cancer treatments are expensive. The remedies and supplements cost roughly £200 a week for anything up to 12 months. Sue and Danielle have been raising awareness about alternative remedies through their blogs and businesses. Sue writes a blog named Dancing with the Big C where she shares information on the remedies they have used to help others, such as carrot juice,Essiac tea, and many other natural treatments.
The auction
Danielle is holding a wedding auction where she will be auctioning off kindly donated items, including: a wedding dress from a beautiful boutique, award winning stationery, flowers, cakes, photographers, videographer, food, drink, entertainment, transport, celebrants, decor, jewellery, bridal accessories and more. All proceeds from the auction will be going towards Emma’s treatment.
“When I asked for help in raising money for my sister’s ongoing treatment for brain cancer these amazing people came running to my aid in the best way they know how… they offered their talent, products and services for free.
“For those who don’t live locally there will also be an online facility for bidding too.
“The Wedding Creatives have all come together to donate EVERYTHING you would need to have the perfect wedding.”
This auction will be the chance for a bride-to-be to not only receive a wonderful wedding package, but also to help Emma and her dance with cancer. It will be held at Ocean Studios in Royal William Yard, Plymouth, Devon, on Friday 29th July 2016 at 7pm. For more information please visit www.thewedhub.com/wedding-auction or the auction Facebook page.

Summer Strawberry Wedding Styling

Who else loves nothing better than eating a fresh, juicy strawberry on a summer’s day? Eat it with a glass of cold Champagne and that’s even better! We have found some really lovely ideas for incorporating strawberries into your wedding styling.
Strawberries are vibrant, in abundance in the summer (and therefore cheaper), and, as we said, they are pretty darn yummy.
We don’t mean that you have to go all out in your wedding styling and wear any form of strawberry attire (unless of course you have the desire to), just pretty, delicate touches as part of your styling and food.
Here are some pretty ideas for summer strawberry wedding styling.

A Magical Woodland Bohemian Wedding Shoot
This post A Magical Woodland Bohemian Wedding Shoot first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog
Who’s ready for some wedding pretty this morning? You are going to be swooning over this incredibly pretty bohemian woodland inspiration shoot all day!
The styling team really created something extra special here. We adore the romantic styling of this shoot that uses the natural elements of the woodland setting. Just look at the flowers – oh and the sweet treat table looks amazing.
Enjoy the pictures of this magical woodland bohemian wedding inspiration shoot, photographed by We Are Origami Photography…
“The idea behind the shoot was to create a scene with a touch of fantasy and intrigue in a magical forest wedding setting. We were inspired by forest nymphs and luxury bohemian vibes with an ethereal, child-like innocence.
“We wanted to draw inspiration from the lush woodland with its natural elements and create a truly mesmerising wedding setting that was brimming with whimsical romance and would draw you in.
“The handmade ceremony structure was adorned with luxurious drapes and fresh blooms, and the flowers and foliage we used in the shoot included peonies, chocolate cymbidium, tea tree, peachy poppies, parrot tulips and garden roses.
“To create the eclectic styled setting we used natural fur woollen throws and cushions, copper lanterns, a bohemian jute rug with vintage love seat, ornate marble table, delicious sweets and cakes and lush pastel blooms.”
